Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled a list of questions that we get asked most often. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, please send us an email, and we’ll respond right away!

What does “Organic” really mean?

No pesticides, no herbicides, no genetically-modified ingredients, and no hormones. Pure – the way nature intended. Slobbers are the ONLY Canadian Dog Treat that has been verified by a CFIA accredited body. We have worked closely with ECOCERT Canada in order to gain this verification.

"Organic" sounds pricey. Is it?

It is true that organic ingredients cost more than non organic, but we have worked very hard to keep our prices competitive with “traditional” treats. With plenty of treats in each package, we provide you with a good supply of premium treats for under $10.

Why are Slobbers grain-free, and what does it mean?

Slobbers Organic Dog Treats contain no grains (wheat, barley, corn. etc.), as grains are not part of a dog’s natural diet. Grains have been added to dog food in recent years because they are an inexpensive and unnecessary filler. Because of this, many dogs have developed sensitivities and allergies to grains.

What is Buckwheat flour?
Buckwheat flour is NOT a grain. It can be confusing to some as it has “wheat” in its name, but Buckwheat Flour is actually derived from a fruit seed.
What's the deal with Palm Shortening?
To begin with, Slobbers Organic Dog treats only uses a SUSTAINABLE source for palm shortening. Palm shortening is NOT the same as Palm kernel oil. Palm shortening is non-hydrogenated, trans fat free and vegan. Palm shorting is derived from palm oil. With the spotlight on the harmful effects of trans fats and hydrogenated oils, palm oil has emerged as a wiser alternative. Palm oil is made up of short and medium chain fatty acids that the body utilizes for energy. New evidence has emerged that palm oil increases good HDL cholesterol, thus aiding in cardiovascular health. Palm oil is a nutrient rich oil containing various antioxidants including beta carotene and tocotreinols, a form of vitamin E.
My dog is on a raw food diet, can he/she eat your treats?
Absolutely! Slobbers are an excellent way for dogs on a raw diet to get the vitamins and fibre not always present in raw food and are an excellent supplement to raw feeding. Crunchy treats can also help clean teeth.
My dog is a MEAT EATER! what's with all the apples, carrots and blueberries?
Our treats are carefully designed to supplement your dog’s primary protein based food source. Unlike many dog treats – which may contain harmful ingredients so that they “taste great” (and in that sense really are just a “treat”) – our organic treats do both. They taste great, and give important nutrients into your dog’s diet they may not be getting from their primary food.
